Born in Scotland and forged by two decades of grueling athletic competition, she shared the wisdom earned through countless hours of training when she co-authored "The Brave Athlete" with her husband and creative partner, Simon Marshall—a book that sold over 200,000 copies and established her as a voice for mental resilience.

The mental fortitude required to push through the final miles of an off-road triathlon also translate perfectly to the marathon of filmmaking. With undergraduate and graduate degrees in film & Theater, Lesley has been pursuing a parallel twenty-year career in acting, writing, and producing. Then came the breakthrough that would define her second act: ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT. As screenwriter and producer, Lesley helped transform Remarque's anti-war classic into a visceral Netflix adaptation that earned multiple Oscar® and BAFTA wins, proving that an athlete's understanding of human endurance could illuminate the darkest corners of human experience. When Simon passed away from cancer in 2024, Lesley faced her greatest test of resilience—not on a racecourse or film set, but in the raw aftermath of profound grief. True to form, she’s choosing transformation over retreat, continuing to create the "hard-hitting and muscularly poetic" stories that have become her signature from her base in Los Angeles, forever shaped by her Scottish roots.
